A few months ago the “El Trece TV” Channel in Argentina contacted us to film a special documentary dedicated to Barcelona for the famous “Resto del Mundo” Show. The TV Producer wanted to show Antoni’s Gaudi outstanding Architecture, so we started working on that. And so we accompany them during two complete days:
On our first day we visited the most important Market in Barcelona, Sant Josep de la Boqueria right in the heart of Las Ramblas, it dates from 1217, when tables were introduced to offer meat close to the old city main entrance of Barcino Medieval walls. From December 1470 onwards, a pig market was held there; Later, until 1794 its expansion reached out to the Plaça del Pi at the Gothic quartier. The present name is accepted to come from the Catalan Boc, meaning “goat”, along these lines a Boqueria would be a place where goat meat was sold. It is the place to visit for FoodLovers and Foodie fans, here you can find any spieces from the local catalan gastronomy.
We visited different market stalls, like one of the oldest Grocery serving fresh vegetables and fruit since 1897, or the famous Pinotxo de la Boqueria serving some of the best local Tapas in Barcelona since 1941.
The following day was the most important for the Program as it was dedicated to GAUDI’s Modernism Architecture, first we visited the Sagrada Familia, the crown’s jewel of Barcelona still under construction since 1882, now at good pace, plan is to be completed in 2026. We had the chance to interview the Chief Architect Mr. Jordi Faulí, with a special access at the highest point of the worksite, where now they are fixing the foundations of the main column which will be 172,50 mts above sea level, which will definetely change the skyline of Barcelona.
The Sagrada Familia Temple is the pride of all Barcelonians as express the capacity of creating, innovating and hard working respecting the original drawings of Antoni Gaudi.
Following we visited the Park Güell a historical urbanization promoted by Eusebi Güell, one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs at the early 1900’s in Barcelona. He assigned the outline of a recreation park to Antoni Gaudí, it was built between 1900 and 1914, it was formally opened as a public park in 1926. And in 1984 UNESCO proclaimed the recreation park a World Heritage Site under “Works of Antoni Gaudí”.
To complete the two days filming the main Gaudí architectonical buildings, the icing on the cake was a Special ShowCooking Event in the evening: The innovative Chefs by Barcelona By Road prepared the Menú inspired by Antoni Gaudí, one of our most popular Gourmet Experience in Barcelona. Where the concept of gastronomy and restaurants is being reinvented as a result of the public’s need to live new social experiences around food, we call it “underground restaurant”. So we all enjoyed a pleasant evening while savouring this menu reflecting the uniqueness of Catalan cuisine with some nods to Asian cuisine and well paired with a Premium Wine Selection.
We spent fantastic two days with El Trece Tv Team, so the Team is so glad to be involved in this prestigious Travel Show for South America TV viewers.
